· Doctor of Optometry 2014, New England College of Optometry. Graduated as part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.

· Externship at the Vision Institute of Canada in Toronto with emphasis on pediatrics, binocular vision, low vision, and specialty contact lens care for irregular corneas.

· Externship at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center with a focus in primary care as well as pre- and post-surgical care.

· Externship at the Providence VA with a focus on ocular disease management and low vision.

· Externship at NECO Special Populations program in Boston with training in pediatrics, contact lens care, geriatrics, as well persons with disabilities at the Perkins School for the Blind.

· Successfully passed examinations from the American National Board of Examiners in Optometry as well as the Canadian Assessment in Competence in Optometry.

Dr. Chen decided to pursue a career in optometry after working at an optometrist office while studying for her Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto majoring in Physiology and Human Biology.  After completing her doctorate degree in Optometry, Dr. Chen decided to return to her hometown in Toronto to practice her profession.  She believes that patient education and good communication are integral to good patient care and the secret to a lasting patient-doctor relationship.
